AN OLD QUILT NEEDS REPAIR

IMG_5145

This old quilt has been hanging over my bed for years, taking it down for cleaning and some repairs.  Now it needs lots of repairs again.  I will wash it gently and bring it down to my local  fabric shop The Textile COmpany where they have some replica’s of old prints.  I will work on it this summer.  I have thought about sending out some of my wool for the inside.  I  repaired one and put wool batts inside and covered it with cotton muslin and its a favorite with Chris and myself.

SILK EYE PILLOWS

The Lavender Fest at Johnson Hill Farm is at the end of the month so I thought it was time to get sewing again.  I dyed the silk and will be making simple eye pillows filled with flax-seed and lavender.  I find silk hard to sew and end up not making as many as I would like to but this year I am going to push myself harder.

MEMORIES

This is a picture of some of my Border Leicester sheep and Elliott, going back 8 or so years.  I loved those  sheep so much they were  the perfect flock.  Large sheep, easy to manage, great personalities and wonderful wool.  All gone now but never forgotten.  This picture was taken at summer camp.  Each May the sheep were loaded on a trailer and spent the summer on wonderful pasture at Lynn Fishers Farm.  They came back in OCtober to my farm for the winter.
