HELLO

THE COLORS OF SHETLAND

I bought this pattern book in the spring and quickly thumbed through it.  Putting it away for a winter day. I have been following Kate Davies blog since last winter. SHe is a master knitter with wonderful pattern ideas.  After I finish the scarf I working on i will start one of the projects in the book  I haven’t decided which one yet.  In this pattern book are interesting facts about The Shetlands, such as a two page article about Puffins, and the Stevenson Lighthouse, the first one you see if you are arriving by sea.  Learning about Ursula Venables who wrote 2 memoirs about her stay on the Shetlands and last but not least exploring the dramatic Northmavine.  I highly recommend this book.

NORTH ATLANTIC WOOL CONFERENCE

This conference will be held this year in Iceland.  The closest to the US.    I am trying to find out more about it and may cancel my trip to  Nova Scotia to go to this.  We really don’t have anything like this in the states and the learning experience will help me in teaching of spinning and judging fleeces.  I may be able to expand my business and get new ideas.  A win win situation.  The flights are reasonable right now and they may even have discounts on flights and hotels  Waiting for answers.  It will be in Sept and that will be  a delightful time to visit Iceland. Going will depend on lots of different things so its up in the air now., I will not cancel Nova Scotia till I know the details.

Willie has had this cold  and today it seems much worse so off to the vets this afternoon.  He needs to have some teeth taken out and probably has an infection.  He will be back in veterinary surgery on Monday to have that done.  Right now he is glad to be home near the wood stove.

Many thanks for reading my blog today, I hope your day was enjoyable.   Carole
