HELLO

PLANS FOR A NEW LAP QUILT

I was looking through a bin for cat material the other day and found  2 pieces of material that would make a lovely lap quilt.  I have an old wool blanket that needs to be used for that purpose.  Then I remembered the rose ticking and it all goes together so nicely.   I want to get all my cat material in one or more bin.s  I know I have a lot of it and I want to make a lot of cat beds and toys for the upcoming  show season.

It is bone chilling cold this morning with snow flurries this afternoon and Saturday.  This morning on the news they were talking about how the snow covering is less and less each year.  Well it doesn’t feel like that this year anyway.  BUt they showed Jimney Peak a wonderful ski area in The Berkshires and the manager said that they invested in a wind turbine because it was costing so much to make snow .Its been an excellent investment for them.

HEIRLOOM MAGAZINE

Among the many good articles in the latest magazine was one on Monarch Butterfly’s.  They are disappearing at alarming rates.  This is do in part to the lack of Milkweed which is a staple in their diet.  Pesticides are also doing their share of eliminating them.    We as steward’s of Mother Earth need to replenish their food supply.  I remember as a child Milkweed pods were everywhere.  I loved opening them up and waving them like a wand.  Now that I really think about it I don’t see them much anymore.  They are considered a weed..  They used to grow freely on the side of roads but now we have machines to keep things clear.  They are sprayed or cut down before they are of any use to the Monarch’s.  I plan to plant some this year and then I will take some of the pods spread them around like i did when I was a child.

Many thanks for reading my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day.   Carole
