PROJECTS I WILL BE WORKING ON AT THE FAIR

Many years ago I took a workshop in  Vermont with Heather Ritchie from England.  It was the most delightful class I have ever taken.  We had so much fun and laughed through the whole two days.  She had done this wonderful rug  with a sheep and stone wall.  While I am not up to a stone wall I am up to doing a sheep in the proddy style.  I bought the material more than 5 years ago.  Every once in a while when I am cleaning out I come across it.  This year i decided I would blow up a picture of Seamus which I had used in a smaller rug and do him in proddy with a yarn face and legs.

I plan to work on it during the show  By the way Heather has a wonderful book out on proddy  and her rugs and life in the Yorkshire Dales.  I have always wanted to take a class from her there.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful.

The other project I started in the early 90’s.  I have 3 rugs to finish from those days and I hope to get this done this summer.  Locker hooking is done with roving and some string and a hook.  Its fun and easy and a good way to use up roving.  I have a rug from the 80’s by my bed  they just don’t wear out and are so comfy on a cold winters night.

IMG_6741ewhere along the line it got wet and the color bled a little and it looks like there is a tea stain on it which will come out when its done.  Its half way done now.

Many thanks for reading my blog of this hot summery day, hope to see you at the fair.  Carole

PROJECTS-GREEN MOUNTAIN RUG HOOKING GUILD-TEA’

8 06 2015

GREETINGS

After a beautiful weekend we are getting a few needed sprinkles this morning.  Tomorrow more showers.

PROJECTS

I have many unfinished projects and some i really want to get done before the end of the month.  I have piled them on the dining table and will try to pick one and finish it! The flag hooked rug was done 20 years ago and has been floating around.  I wanted to get it hung but just couldn’t decide how to do it and where to put it.  I figured it out and yesterday got it hung in an area where it wouldn’t get direct sunlight.  I love where it is and the spot needed a little color to it.

GREEN MOUNTAIN RUG HOOKING GUILD

Saturday the hooking guild had a meeting close to here.  Usually Deb and I have to drive a couple of hours  but Saturday it was in Brattleboro, Vermont less than a half hour from here.  I haven’t been to anything in almost 2 years,   It was good to see people and their projects.  Deb helped me get me going on the small punch needle and I will be doing more of that now.

SHEEP AND THE BARN-FINDING A LOCKER HOOKED FLAG AND OTHER SURPRISESI

6 07 2014

GREETING,

While I am writing this fireworks at being shot off at a neighboring farm.  This happens on holidays throughout the year.  I can watch them nicely from my bedroom or porch.  It was the best summer day with cooler,  less humid weather and nice breezes.

THE SHEEP AND THE BARN

Chris and I started the barn this morning and the worse of it is done.  They were able to eat some grass today and tomorrow I  will move the fence further down the path/LOC

THE FLAG LOCKER HOOKED RUG

I decided to work in the attic for 15 or 20 minutes this morning.  I saw this blanket bag laying on the floor.  It was full of Aunt Lydia’s yarn and a afghan I started years ago.  I want to finish it but have no idea where the pattern is.

IMG_3416

I brought the bag out to the porch to see if there was mice damage and was glad to report that there wasn’t and at the bottom of the bag was this flag rug, It has to be at least 20 or more years old.

I do like it.  It does need some minor repairs.  What a find, I am sure I will find more treasures cleaning out the attic.

Chris leaves tomorrow for Boy Scout camp and will be back in a week.  No news from Ricky, I hope he is doing well in school and having a good time too.

Many thanks for reading my blog today.  Carole
