GREETINGS

We  are enjoying some wonderful weather for November.  I am trying to get all the outside chores done before it ends.

The Oaks are still holding onto their leaves

HELEN

Helen is still in the house and I am preparing a caged in area for her , Hazel and Mrs. Brown for the winter.  Next Spring I will put her out in a an area with Hazel and Mrs. Brown.  I can easily monitor them if they are all together and it will be best for Helen not to be tempted by long grasses and hay.

Today she laid an egg the first one since the end of July.  She is pretty proud of herself.

FINISHED ANOTHER WALL

I finished another wall in the kitchen, the last one I will be doing before The Crafts of Colrain. On this wall originally their was a window.  They just put some insulation there and I always thought I would replace the window.    I have given up on that idea so I insulated it more and covered it with a sheet of plastic and now it will be warmer in the kitchen.IMG_6040.

Hyacinths

There is still time to get your Hyacinth bulbs.  I have 6 so far and hope to get another package.  They will go in the fridge till January at which time I will put them in the Hyacinth glasses.

COSMO

Cosmo is settling in.  We have made some adjustments and he is happy  Now he is staying in my bedroom and computer room and loves it.  The other cats scared him and soon I will be leaving the door open for and hour or so a day and see what happens.    He is a  loving cat.  So glad he came into my life.  And last night I was almost asleep and heard this racket, Cosmo had caught a mouse.

Hello,

FLEECE TO SHAWL AT THE MASSACHUSETTS SHEEP AND WOOL FESTIVAL

The show is looking for more teams to compete in the Sheep to Shawl event.  You would need a weaver and 3 spinners.  It’s a fun event and not too late to enter.  contact Susan at Svanb7323S@aol.com for more information.  This is a celebration year for the show.  Its been going strong for 40 years.  Come and help us celebrate.  Always Memorial Day weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at beautiful Cummington, Massachusetts.

WORKING ON THE FRONT PORCH

Chris and I replaced the floor boards on the front porch They weren’t as bad as was previously thought.

I will paint the entire porch floor in June sometime. Yesterday the sheep area was finally finished.  Its been quite a week full of catching up on projects.  Thanks to Chris I am almost done.

WORKMEN

The workmen are almost done with the cement work.  I now have a railing on the front stairs.

The entire house will have to be painted again starting sometime this summer.  I know that with all the cracks filled in, the house will be warmer.  Another huge project done.

MINNIE

I am happy to report that Minnie is back to her old self.  She is eating well and active.  Thanks for all your well wishes.  I have done some research on the internet and want to find out more about homeopathy.  That may be a way to go with the disease.

It’s going to be in the 60’s today and the sun is out, I am so glad spring has finally come.  The vet is coming to check on Elliott who has a rash.  I think it may be from the dampness in the barn.  I hope its nothing more.  He is feeling fine and frisky so that is a good sign.  I had to put off his shearing which was supposed to be today.  We will do it another time. Have a wonderful day and many thanks for reading my blog.  Carole

ANN CLEEVES-LEARN TO SPIN CLASS-FORGOTTEN WINTER PROJECTS-WEB SITE

26 02 2014

HELLO

ANN CLEEVES

Several years ago I read an article about Ann Cleeves series of mysteries about The Shetland Isles.  I picked up Raven Black and read it in several days

IMG_2460

Liz from the Sheep and Shawl shop told me that  shesaw a movie called Shetland by Ann CLeeves on youtube.  Well last night I watched it.  Just put in Shetland and its comes up at SHet and some numbers.  There are two parts to it.  It was a great mystery and the scenery was wonderful.  If you love a good mystery you will love her books and the movie too.

MY WEB SITE

My web site is still in flux.    Even Chris couldn’t figure out how to get on my site.   Go Daddy bombards the first page with advertisements, in order to get you to spend more money on a site that is useless.  It is being worked on and will take sometime to complete.

There is definitely a chill in the air today with some snow showers coming in tomorrow.  It can’t last forever.

LEARN HOW TO SPIN AT SHEEP AND SHAWL

The learn how to spin class is starting soon at SHeep and Shawl.    It will be another fun class.  We will start with a raw fleece and end up with yarn.  Great fun.

FORGOTTEN WINTER PROJECTS

Each year in the winter I see things that need to be done in the summer.  Last year Ice jammed up on the corner of the porch near the back door and when it thawed water came down between the doors.  I forgot all about it till now .

This  December I got a new calendar, I decided to write the projects in the appropriate month, that  will be a good reminder for me.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you had a lovely day.   Carole
