GREETINGS

Local Woodpeckers have found the dead tree in front of my house.  They are very busy.

I watched the news yesterday morning which is now something I do rarely.  It’s all sad and depressing.  I was in the grocery store yesterday and found that the same.  Prices going up and  packaging getting smaller.  Thank goodness for co-ops where you can buy things in bulk.

MOVING DAY FOR MORTICIA AND THE CHICKS

Soon the wood stove will be going and it will be too hot in the kitchen for the chicks and there was not much room for them in the cat carrier.  I moved them into the south bedroom in the blue cage where Hazel and Mrs. Brown were last winter.  It suits them with plenty room and sunshine .  They are both more active now, even the smaller one Peeps is running around .

PUTTING WOOD AWAY

1-1/2  cords of wood is safely on the porch plus another 1/2 of a cord which I didn’t use last year.  Tyler and Charles came over around 9 yesterday morning and starting putting it on the porch while their father stacked it.

With only a break for hot cocoa they finished just before noon.  A huge help for me as it would have taken me days to do it.

PUTTING FOOD Up

I was busy trying to use up the tomatoes yesterday.  I made a wonderful mozzarella, tomato, basil and garlic mix and left it to marinate all day long.

It will top thin spaghetti drizzled with olive oil.  A great supper.    I froze string beans and peppers on a cookie sheet to pack in bags later.

And picked some spearmint to dry.

Soon I will start getting things ready for the chickens move inside.  Lights need to be cleaned and timers need to be set,   Everything cleaned and insulation added to the windows.  I am going to start this afternoon but think that it will take several days to get it all done.  I hoe you have a wonderful day and many thanks for reading my blog today.  Carole
