GREETINGS

Hot and steaming for today luckily the nights seem to cool off.  Rain showers are preventing the hay from being done.  Jewel weed is almost 7 feet high, going to put a post on Facebook , free jewelweed and free manure come and get it.

SWIMMING ON THE DEERFIELD

IMG_5420

We all went down to Sunburn beach on the Deerfield River on Friday.  The water was frigid. Once you got use to it you were fine.  There are lots of glacier pot holes on this part of the river and jumping off them is so much fun.

A great time was had by all.

LAST SPINNING CLASS

The last spinning class was yesterday.  Both Deb and Joan made wonderful yarn.  We practiced with cotton/linen, mohair, Angora and made some designer yarns.  I enjoyed the class and am looking forward to seeing them both again.

HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF CHESTERFIELD MA

IMG_5425

Besides mentioning my families that lived in Chesterfield this book is a treasure-trove of information   When I was a child almost everyone in town was a cousin.  This book explains how that all came about.  So interesting are the comments like Killed by lightning, basket maker of pounded ash, one man was a blacksmith, farmer and man of strength, typhoid fever is mentioned.  large families were the norm and many children didn’t live to the age of 5.  This book covers the years 1762 to 1961. Life was so hard in those days.

It sounds lovely and warm where you are, we have typical English summer rain here today, still at least we won’t have to do the watering 🙂 the peppers are a gorgeous colour. The spinning looks such fun, I would love so much to have a go on a spinning wheel. x
