GREETINGS

We have had light snow off and on all night and it’s still snowing this morning.  3-4 inches are on the ground.  I hope this is the last of it as we were having a great slow thaw.

The sap buckets are in place along my favorite back road but the sap is not running with this cold weather.  Warmer days are expected for this coming week and it will be moving again.

SUNFLOWER PINS

The Sunflower Pins are at SHeep and Shawl.  Learn to make then, its only an afternoon class.  They are easy to make . And so many uses.  They could be glued to a head band, and in art pieces and many other things.

SOAP MAKING AND A SURPRISE

At Thursday Spinners I mentioned I needed to get going on Soap making.  A friend Sandy said she tried it once and had some supplies that she wanted to give away.  Yesterday I went over to pick up some Coconut Oil and she had added another box of wonderful things to that.  2 wonderful soap molds hand created by her husband who is a wonderful wood worker and a cutting board.  These will make my soap making days so much easier.  Molds are very important in soap making and I have bought many of them and yet to find one that is easy to use.  I am sure these are the ones I have been looking for.  I am so grateful for these treasures.   I will get to the soap making next week.

Thanks Sandy and Glen.

GOOD NEWS ABOUT MY SHOULDER

I went to physical therapy yesterday and its a strained muscle.   It’s already getting better and a few exercises will strengthen it.  SHe was surprised at how strong my upper body was.  Carrying all those grain bags is helping me stay strong.

WINTERBERRY FARM SHEARING DAY IS TODAY

Jill and Jim need some help so I will be there today.  With the snow I think the turn out will be sparse, too bad because it’s always fun to watch and educational too.  Hope to see you there.  I will be rug hooking.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you have a wonderful day.  Carole

I love seeing the sap buckets along the roadsides. Nothing says ‘spring’ better!

I love your sap bucket picture. It does mean spring is coming. When I did some sugaring winter seemed to fly by I would set out taps during the January thaw and the continue in March. It was so much fun. I would like to do it one more time. My son and I will try and set up the evaporator next fall.

We happened to pass Boyden’s Sugarhouse yesterday to see it ablaze…so upsetting! I feel so bad for them to have that happen at this time. I guess I have to find a new supplier. 😦

I saw something in the paper that it won’t stop them. So hopefully they can boil down somewhere else and continue on. We used to go to a place in Ashfield where you could have breakfast it was a tradition since childhood and we went one year and it wasn’t open. Things change even when we don’t want them to. At this time of year I think about sitting on the tree stumps and the smells and the wonderful pancakes and hot maple syrup.
