GREETINGSIMG_3683

The mountains to the west were shrouded in fog this morning.  The hot and humid weather continues with temps in the 90’s today.  This will probably be  the last of this type of weather this summer so I am going with the flow.

HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF CHESTERFIELD

I came across the history of the people of Chesterfield, Mass.  It was put out by the town on their 200th Anniversary.  My Dads parents are both from the town and our family has been in the town since 1755 when land was bought.  Whether good or bad,  things are written about families.  If you’re in arrears in your taxes or someone is upset about your will it’s there.  And all history, dates of birth, marriage and death and the number of children and who they married and where they lived  are there.    If you were in the Revolutionary war or French and Indian War it’s there and the number of years and rank

As a child visiting Chesterfield, almost everyone in town at that time was related to me in some way.  Of course now the town has grown and family members have passed on or moved but there are still relatives there.  I am looking through the book now and putting the pieces of my family together.  As a child I remember my Dad and Grandfather talking about the Bates, Rhodes, Weeks, Bisbee and many other families but now I am able to see how we came to be related to all of these people.  I can read about their war time experiences, and some even went to college, what they did  for a living and in some instances where they lived in town.   I am so glad the town had taken on the task of writing this book before all was lost.  I shall treasure it and pass it on.

A NEW FLEECE

A friend who I have known for years but don’t see often rang me up and asked if I wanted one of her fleeces.  Of course I said yes.   Now anyone who knows me knows that I don’t need another fleece.   Its a beauty and I am hoping to be able to promote her beautiful Romney fleeces.  Her name is Ulla and she has a few fleeces for sale and of course will have more in the spring.

EGGS

Its always surprising to me that even in this hot and humid weather the hens are laying.  The do spend more time digging holes in the dirt to la yin and drink lots more water.  I am lucky to have such a good group of ladies and of course the roosters are great too.
