9 06 2014

GREETINGS

Its a beautiful morning here at the farm. I have planned a day of planting and getting the outside area done for Morticia and her family.  Its time for them to be out.

Class at Sheep and Shawl

It was a wonderful class, there were only 2 students the other two couldn’t make it so hopefully we can make up the class this week and they can take the finishing class.  We started with the proddy flower and then did the wool fleece ones.

THE CHICKS ARE OUT

I spent a good part of the day putting a covering over their area and making sure the fence was tight.    They were out for a few hours and ate bugs and grass and the two white ones fought with each other.  Now I have seen hens do that but it did make me wonder if the two white ones are roosters!!!!!!  They still cry when Morticia is out of sight.

From the picture it looks like the two white chicks are cocks and the marran type a pullet.

Thanks Anne I know you have a greater knowledge than I about chickens. I was thinking the same but hoping not. I am going to keep them would I be able to keep them together without hens?

Possibly, cocks normally fight when their hormones kick in, if they are not with hens and cant see hens they might live together as two old bachelors.
