HELLO
WEDDING
DAVE AND LAUREN
A NEW RUG FROM AN OLD PATTERN
Over the years I have bought rug patterns thinking that I would get around to doing them someday. I really don’t remember why I bought this pattern.
It’s not that it’s not a nice pattern but it really isn’t something I would do. So today I am drawing a new pattern on the back of it and will bring this to work on at the Shelburne Farmers Market. After finding more handspun yarn and scouring the internet for some ideas I have come up with and idea for the border anyway. It should use up a lot of yarn.
I have decided to do the border with dyed purple llama yarn and the inside of the rug in stripes of lots of colors, most of which will be incorporated in the circles in the border. I have marked lines across the center to make sure that I maintain a straight line. I made a small similar rug and realized halfway up that the line somehow wasn’t straight anymore. This should help me to keep it going straight.
FAMILY NEEDLEWORK
I remember seeing this piece as a child in my Aunt Delia’s hope chest. Always packed away. This wasn’t my mother’s taste so it was never out. I am going to hang
it in my upstairs bathroom. I think the piece was done by one of my Aunts. It is done on a bath towel and could have been done as a baby present for my birth. There was a washcloth with it. It needs some repair work done on the basket and a small hole sewed but its doable. On both sides of my family women worked with their hands, Sewing, embroidery, dressmaking crocheting and knitting.
EGGS
This morning there were 9 eggs in the nest boxes. It seems that I am getting over a dozen eggs every two days. It’s really a great number seeing that most of the hens are over 5 years old.
Many thanks for reading my blog on this wonderful warm day. I hope you have a lovely day. Carole
You didn’t tell us how the wedding went and why the fire truck? I love the photo of the eggs in the various shades – go girls!
Good Morning Eliza
The wedding was beautiful. The old church was the perfect place to have it. My son is member of the Colrain Fire Department and the fire truck brought him to the reception. Everyone pitched in to make it a memorable day for them.
The girls are doing so well. I still don’t know what the new chicks are I am hoping that they are all girls I have 2 rooster already but whatever they are they will live out there days on the far.
