More from The Massachusetts Sheep and Wool

27 05 2014

Hello

MORE WONDERFUL THINGS FROM THE MASSACHUSETTS SHEEP AND WOOL FEST

I spotted this quilt made out of ribbons, isn’t it beautiful and a wonderful way to remember a career of growing sheep and other animals

IMG_3122.There was also a table of plates that were given out at the shows.  I have three of them myself, won at Spinning contests.  A wonderful memory.

SHEEP

Some wonderful sheep were there brought by people from other states too.  Lincolns and Border Leicesters made me wish I had a much bigger farm, and Tunis, a sheep I have wanted to have for so many years.  Their babes are born with reddish wool and that is the only time that they have that reddish wool.  With their second shearing the wool is a beautiful cream color but their faces remain that beautiful red.

THE SHEEP TO SHAWL CONTEST

This year the Sheep to Shawl Contest only had two groups.  I am working on the committee to get more groups and we hope to have at least 5 next year.  The prize money goes up with 5 groups, so that should be and incentive for people to enter..

tomorrow I will have some pictures of the lead line contest.  For those of you that have missed this fair plan to come next year, it’s always on Memorial Day weekend and it really is a family event, lots of entertainment, bring your wheel and spin.  For the parking fee of $10. you can spend the day there, watch the dog trails, visit with sheep breeders, watch the contests and learn a lot about sheep, spinning, felting, dyeing and weaving..  I leave you today with a picture of one of my three plates .  I treasure them.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you have a wonderful day.   Carole
