CHICKEN COOP CLEANING-MORTICIA-SANDBAGS TODAY

30 03 2014

Hello

CLEANING THE COOP

I have already cleaned the perches, now to the messy parts.  I try to do a thorough clean out every two weeks, refreshing it in between.  Cobwebs appear like magic and need to be brushed away with a damp mop.

Bernice was anxious to lay an egg and was squawking at me the whole time I was in there.

I have a large, long poll brush for the upper barn and do that every couple of months.  Spring is around the corner and the end of April the Chickens will be in the summer homes.

MORTICIA

As of this morning she has 3 medium eggs, one rather large egg and one of her own underneath her.

One time she had 8  eggs under her and it was a struggle to keep the all warm.  I will add more hay today, she is a great nest builder as are most Bantams, she enjoys adding bits here and there.

SAND BAGS

I am going to get some sand bags today.  We are suppose to get lots of rain tonight and it is raining inside the barn again.  Going farther into the barn and in places where it never got to.

Many thanks for reading my blog on this lovely spring day.  Carole
