Hello,

A BEAUTIFUL DAY

Yesterday was a beautiful day here, still a chill in the air but the sky was so blue.  I love the afternoon shadows on the mountain.

AN UNUSUAL DYE METHOD

Yesterday I got my March, April, May issue of Rug hooking magazine.

SO many good articles in it.  I was drawn to an article on dyeing , it was done in such an unexpected way.  In 2008 India Flint wrote a book about a new way to dye called Eco Dyeing on fabric.  Although I think  this method could be used on roving and batts.  I also think that this would work for cotton shirts too.  That would be a huge help to me as soon as I wear a new shirt a stain seems to attach itself and it becomes a farm shirt.

Wanda Kerr did the text and photo’s for the article and is was done extremely well.  She experimented with all things dirt, compost, flowers, rusty pipes etc.   The one I liked the most was leaves and flowers.  I would like to try it with Calendula flowers, marigolds and leaves and grassy stems, adding blackberries, and other berries would be interesting too.

UPDATE ON HAZEL, MRS. BROWN AND MILLY

They are doing very well, Mrs. Brown occasionally lays an eggs, Hazel has returned to himself, the guardian of Mrs. Brown and Milly enjoys watching them.  I am hoping to have a new area outside for them and in late April I hope to have them in it and maybe the new hens too.
