LAST SOCK KNITTING CLASS

Yesterday was the last sock knitting class at Sheep and Shawl.  I was sad to see it end.  The gals were wonderful and enthusiastic.  They have learned how to make socks.

The socks were made out of handspun wool, cotton, wool/mohair and just plain old fashioned wool.

BAKED BEANS

I am making baked beans today.  They were soaked overnight, boiled and rinsed and all the ingredients added.  Its a many generation tradition in my family.  My Fathers Grandmother’s Mother made them.  A comforting meal for a cold winters day.

Yesterday I got 4 eggs and this morning Frances is in her nest so I expect to see a blue egg today.   Hens have their own clocks and the days are long enough now to get started again.  The very large eggs is from the hybrid Golden Comet, Lucy.  Its no wonder they don’t live long, that egg is so much bigger than a large egg.  They lay many like that.  It does take a toll out of their bodies.  I can see why laying an egg that size every day could make one grumpy!!!!!

THE SNOW

Chris is out in the back between the stone wall and the house digging snow.  He is trying to get the 4 feet of snow away from the dryer vent.  This afternoon we have to dig a trench so that when it warms up in a few days the melt won’t come into the barn.  SO much to do I hope we can get the barn done this week too.

Many thanks for reading my blog and I hope you have a lovely day.   Carole
