FROZEN PIPES AGAIN-THE STORM IS HERE-MORE MITTENS- A SOUP DAY

HELLO

FROZEN PIPES AGAIN

I had frozen pipe both yesterday and this morning on the outside kitchen wall.  I got both of them fixed without bursting.  I plan to buy some rigid foam insulation and plastic sheeting and put that on the wall in the fall, that might be just what I need to stop pipes from freezing

THE STORM IS HERE

Yesterday I check my grain supply, picked up what I needed and got some hay.  The animals have good supplies.  It seems all the sheep have been out frolicking in the snow this morning.  They were covered with snow.  They are predicting anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow which will turn to sleet for a while this afternoon.  Right now its coming down at a pretty good clip.  SOme places down south had snow coming down at a rate of 3-4 inches per hour.

SAMMY IS WONDERING WHEN THE PELLET STOVE WILL BE TURNED ON!

The birds are all around this morning and there is plenty of food for them.

MORE MITTENS

Another pair of mittens from the sweater.  This sweater is made of 100% Shetland wool.  They are not the perfect mittens yet I will have to work on the sewing part of them and I think there are one more pair of mittens in this sweater.  I washed the sweater and dried it.  I like the style of these mittens with the longer cuff.  I am going to make some CHristmas Tree Pins with some of the sweater and I will still have leftovers for other projects.  This sweater cost $1.00 at a thrift store.  For those of you on a tight budget or if you don’t know how to knit you can still have warm mittens with little cost and time.

IT’S A SOUP DAY

I have soup in the crock pot today.  It is a vegetable soup with left over veggies both in the fridge and in the freezer.   While looking in the freezer I found some pesto that I had frozen last summer.  I froze it flat so that I could break it into  pieces.  I think It will add a delightful flavor to the soup.  All kinds of veggies are in it including celery root, kale and parsnips.  I will add some pasta when it’s almost done and add some shredded cheese when it’s in the bowl.  A warming meal for tonight.

Most of the ingredients for this soup were in my freezer.  When I opened the package of frozen sweet corn It smelled like the day I froze.  In the midst of this dreary day its good to remember that I will be freezing sweet corn again and probably complaining of the heat!

Glad your pipes are ok. It is snowing like crazy here too…a friend described it as being inside a snow globe. I think that is about right. Stay warm.

I love soups on cold snowy days and a thick fish chowda is even better.

I do love soups too, I have made all kinds but love the simple ones the best. Good to hear from you Ed, enjoy hearing about toy hens. Carole
