RARE BREED SURVIVAL TRUST

2014 WATCHLIST

The Trust puts out a list every year of the rare breeds population and what condition the population is in.    There are many on the list.  Many people are working hard to keep these animals true to their heritage and increasing slowly their particular breeds.  I will just mention a few breeds of Sheep and HOrses these animals are critical which means in the whole of the UK there are only 500-900 of them.

SHEEP

Leicester Longwool, Teeswater, and North Ronaldsay.

HORSES
Cleveland Bay, Hackney Pony, and Suffolk

I hope to do my part this year and purchase some wool or yarn from these farmers.  They need our support to keep the breeds true and keep them around so that our children’s children can see these animals, wear hats, mittens or sweaters from their fleeces.

EGG

Another blue egg today!!!!!

RED IS THE COLOR OF THE DAY

I am using Pro Chem’s Turkey Red today. I like it on the Mohair and the light shade almost looks salmon.  Tomorrow between shoveling I hope to get the blue done.

HESTER

Hester is getting up and standing on her legs more.  The petroleum jelly treatments are working well.  Soon I will have to put her in a cage.  Can’t have her flying all around the kitchen.  She is a joy to have around talking and cooing all day long.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you had a wonderful day.   Carole
