2 11 2013

Hello

The Canadian Geese have settled at the pond at Pine Hill Orchard for this warm weather.  SOon they will fly south.  Because of global warming for the past few winters they have flown south for the cold weather and back when it gets warmer all winter long.

This day has started off warm, I do hope it stays that way.  I have coops to clean and the barn to start cleaning.

BOOKS I AM READING

RAG RUGS OF ENGLAND AND AMERICA BY EMMA TENNANT

Debbie gave me this wonderful book for my birthday. the pages are thick and full of lots of information and wonderful colored pictures of some very old rugs.  Full of interested bits of history that would have likely been lost in the past if it wasn’t for Emma Tennant.  The story of the First Rug Man was so endearing, it shows us a man with complications in his life going forward and making a life from rug hooking..  I am a third of the way through this book and I am sure will complete it today.  Anyone who is interested in the history of rug hooking in New England, England and Canada will love the rich stories and wonderful pictures..

HOOKED PRIMITIVE GINGERBREAD MEN

Yesterday I hooked on e of the Gingerbread men.

I have hooked them before and have given them as presents at Christmas.    They are fun but not a quick projects taking  several or more hours to hook.  I hand sew the backing and then fill them with cotton sprinkled with gingerbread spices.  Another fun thing to make.

HAZEl

Hazel is still on the mend and will go back to the vets on Tuesday.

Today I bought him a treat at the farm store, some dehydrated worms.  He has not eagerly taken to any treats I have given him but these were eaten quite quickly.  He is a rooster who knows what he likes and worms are number 1.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you have a wonderful day.   Carole
