MOLAS FROM PANAMA

Iris Simpson from Canada gave a wonderful talk and slide show on Molas from Panama.

I have heard lectures before but Iris did the best job of explaining how they were made and why the people of that part of Panama made them.  They are bright and colorful and now being made for the tourist trade which helps the tribes keep their old ways of living.  I was really surprised when she said that she had never been to Panama, she was so well versed on the subject I though she might have lived there for a while.  I loved seeing them up close it’s all done in hand stitching.

Thank you Iris you were great and I learned a lot from your lecture and slide show.

WIDE CUT RUG MAKING’

The Speaker for Saturday afternoon was    Tim McNerney from Newburyport Ma.  He does very wide cut primitive rugs.  He has done hundreds of them.  I was so impressed by his style and the many rugs he brought.  They are very soft and are all used in his homes.  Each rug he designs himself ,  Some patterns are available from Quail Hill.
