CORN-MOVING HELEN-FISHING WITH THE BOYS

13 07 2013

Hello,

Corn

Last night we had the first corn of the season, it was very tasty.  I am surprised with so much rain that its available. My Grandfather had a saying that corn should be knee-high by the 4th of July.  I think they may have planted it very early.

Helen

Helen is moving  .   Tomorrow night  I will move her with Murphy and see how that works.  Because there is no rooster in with the gals in the side yard she has taken over that role.    Last night I went out early to put them to bed so I had time to sit and watch the getting into the caravan ritual.   She would chase the three black hens all around and one was actually scared to go in.  The two golden comets have feathers off near their tail and now I am seeing the true picture.  Helen is a small bird but now rules the roost with an iron hand .   The move may be temporary, we will see how it works out.

Fishing with the Boys

Yesterday  afternoon we went  to the DAR Forest so that Chris , Tyler and Charlie could go fishing.   The DAR is in Goshen, Ma. and I have visited it many years ago.  It has camping sites and a beautiful lake.  We fished at the boat launch and this worked well for a couple of hours  Then people came with their dogs to launch their boats  I love dogs but not people who don’t watch them  The dogs were all over out gear, and food.

Chris caught two small fish.

We saw many water snakes which was a little alarming..

We drove up to the fire tower, but you aren’t allowed to walk up it.

I hadn’t planned on doing that anyway.  I think that it is still maned.

My daughter Betty is running in the relay for life tonight so we are planning to be at the finish line at NOrthampton High School to see her finish tonight.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope you have a  wonderful day.    Carole
