TURTLES-CRANBERRY MOON FARM

Hello

Turtles

This is the time of the year when turtles cross the road.  Yesterday I was driving and a turtle was in the road, I turned my car around and parked on the side of the road.  A car came down the other side.  I signaled for him to stop and even though I told him to stop he kept edging and killed the turtle.  He asked what I wanted and I told him he just ran over a turtle, he said oh that was all you wanted and sped off.  I knew the couple, selfish people only concerned about themselves.  I was sad.  Today I was coming in from getting grain and there was a turtle on my road.  It was a baby Snapping turtle.

I got him off the road and he went on his merry way.  I have loved turtles since I was a child.  Had a dine store turtle for 10 years.  His name was Myrtle Ross Turtle.  I thought at the time that every animal needed a middle name!!!!!!Kids so have funny ideas.  I have never seen a turtle on my property.  There are lots of snapping turtles in the deeper part of the river and in the canal.

CRANBERRY MOON FARM

Today I made my way to Cranberry Moon Farm in Cummington, Ma.  It was a perfect day and a lovely.   Nellie the dog met me at the barn door, and later came with me to see the 2 sheep in another town.

Lisa Westervelt  and her husband own the farm, which raises Border Leicester, English Leicester and Merino Sheep plus an assortment of chickens,  A Kerry Cow and  a  calf.

IMG_0513 The sheep are beautiful. She has  a wonderful barn, and many pastures.   A great Hen House and a spacious studio.  I bought some beautiful locks for Camp Wool and some for Susan and I to dye for scarves.

She would love me to take  two sheep in the fall and I dearly would love to .  They are so sweet.  Lucky is one of them , his picture is below.

Reading about the turtle on the road reminds me of a few people I know who are thoughtless in their lack of respect for animal life. That bad karma will revisit him, for sure!

I cannot tolerate people who have such little respect for animals. They are lacking something. I agree that karma will come back to them.
