BUYING A HOSE-PEACH TREE -FENCING

3 05 2013

Hello,

BUYING A HOSE

living in this old house has its pluses and minuses.  I have never had an outside faucet here.  There were always so many other things that needed doing before that.  Luckily my son lives next door so I can run a hose from his house if I need to water any new plants.  I have a thick layer of mulch so watering is a non issue in the garden.  But this year I have added so many new plants and moved things around and with no rain I need the water.

Today I went to Greenfield Farmers Supply to buy a new hose.  I was shocked. Hoses now have many regulations , and warnings. They have to tell you what they are made of and if you can drink out of them now.  Most hoses you should not drink from and on one it said wash your hands after touching the hose.  I bought one that is safe for anyone to drink from, safe for the environment and strong.  Who would have guessed you would have to be so careful buying a hose.  I am glad for the warnings and regulations it was an education.

The Peach Tree

The Peach Tree has many blossoms on it this year.  This is its third year.  Now that I have gotten the apple trees I will have to find a class is pruning.  I don’t have the slightest idea how to do it.

Within the last two days the leaves on most of the trees have budded on the mountain.

Fencing

I put up most of the snow fencing near the outside hen’s yard yesterday.  I am going to plant peas on the inside today and cukes on the outside the end of May.  I do like snow fence and put it as an extra fence around the chickens..  Its a reasonable wooden fence which looks nice.

Youre supposed to prune to allow air circulation. Apple trees came with my home, I didnt know this and it got apple scab. Sad. So prune prune prune 🙂

Thanks Kellie I won’t have to do any pruning for a few years. Good information.
