PERMACULTURE- FOOD FOR THE CHICKENS AND THE COMPOST AND MORE

19 12 2012

HELLO

The showers have ended but there is still a little snow left.  It turned windy this afternoon.  I cleaned two of the coops today and spread everything onto the side yard..  I am planning more things for that  area, including willow fencing, and arbors.

FOOD FOR THE CHICKENS AND THE COMPOST AND MORE

I stopped at my local co-op and got this giant bag of scraps.  I couldn’t lift the bag so it must have been over 50 pounds.  The chickens will enjoy these for a better part of a week.

I am using all the citrus peels for the citrus cleaner that I will be making in the late spring.  I will probably be able to  start another jar soon.

The items I can’t use will go into the compost bin near the sheep.  Tomorrow I will cover these with barn sweepings.

If you have chickens or a compost pile these scraps are available for the asking at  your local co-op, and some restaurants and grocery stores.  All you have to do is ask.

Maude was wondering what I was doing out in the back.   She is more like a dog than a sheep and would follow me everywhere.  Of course I think she is secretly thinking I have  carrots in my pocket.

I hope you have a wonderful day and many thanks for reading my blog.       Carole

Mary Jane,
She and her daughter are the sweetest sheep. They are soft and cuddly. Remind me and I will send you some of their wool in the spring
