VOTING DAY – GETTING READY FOR THE CRAFTS OF COLRAIN – MORE PICTURES OF THE FEST

7 11 2012

HELLO

Today was voting day.  Lots of people wore stickers saying I voted.  It was a good reminder for people who  forgot.  The radio was full of stories about polling places and they were upsetting.   I hope the American people will do the right thing.  Today I went to Home Depot.  I saw what might have been a homeless woman with a child, she had lots of plastic bags.  I have seen many homeless people before at this place and at the Big Y.  We are supposed to be such a rich country and we can’t even take care of our own people.  We are rebuilding other countries when at this time in our countries life we should be rebuilding our own.

RUG HOOKING AT THE SALEM CROSS INN

Tomorrow is the day that Debbie and  I look forward to all year.  The hook-in at the Salem Cross Inn at West Brookfield.  You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting.   There are fireplaces all over and the lunch is fit for a Queen.  Dessert is apple pie served with as much homemade whipped cream as you want.   A luxury day away from daily life.  Rugs are displayed all over and there are many vendors to visit.  Lots of pictures for you tomorrow night.

WINTER”S COMING
When I went up to feed and water the sheep I was somewhat surprised that the water was frozen and so was the hose.  I don’t know what I was thinking but the electric water bucket should have been cleaned and hooked up.  I thought about it last week.  Luckily the hose had thawed out some by tonight so I was able to hook up the bucket and fill it.  That gave me some time to spend out in the darkness of the pasture.  The sky was beautiful tonight all the stars were twinkling.  This will be the first year that I have water in the barn.  For the past 14 years I have had to hook up a hose to the kitchen sink and haul it upstairs.  It certainly wasn’t practical.  Cold air-filled the kitchen as the door couldn’t be closed all the way.  I had to have the plumbers come when that part of the kitchen was torn up and casually asked them how much it would cost to run a line there.  It was less than 200 to have it done.  I thought it would cost around a 1000 that is why I never did it.  It’s such a luxury to me , it makes my life so much easier.  I still haven’t found a way to haul the 50 pound bags of grain up there  but I can still manage that,.   I have given a hay elevator some thought and that would make getting hay in easier too.   I have 2 more electric water  buckets to install and that will happen next week.

GETTING READY FOR THE CRAFTS OF COLRAIN

Somehow I thought that I had more time so Thursday and Friday will be clean up days.  I will set up early Saturday morning and the cats will be locked in my bedroom for the day.  They would love to be out socializing but I can’t keep a watchful eye on them so they will be safer in the bedroom.  The boys will be here to help.

I am leaving you with this parting picture of Mrs. Brown in her new sleeping area.   Its suppose to be a nesting box but  she loves to be deep in the hay where she can be warm.
