DYEING WOOL – CHICKEN SUPPLIES ON E-BAY – SPROING – CHECKING OUT A SHOW

3 11 2012

HELLO

DYEING WOOL

I have some old fleeces that have been hanging around so I decided to dye the two of them.  One I am dyeing Turkey Red and the other I am dyeing Mustard.  I hope to make some felted cat beds during the winter.  I have done felting years ago so I will have to do some reading about it to refresh my mind.

THE HEN HOUSE

I bought two more poles and will  install them and install a light.   Tomorrow night will be the night for the exchange.    For the time being I am putting Mrs. Brown, Morticia, Hazel and Milly in there.  I want to add another larger bird as a companion for Milly.  I was able to get this old feeder on e-bay for a great deal less than a new one would cost and its bigger and made better.

SPROING

I have the Sheepish book up in the barn and am reading a chapter or so every time I feed them.  Yesterday the chapter was on something I have seen sheep do and Marley does it a lot it’s called Sproing.  I didn’t even know that it had a name.  Sproing is when a sheep sort of hops, having 4 feet off the ground at one time , then 4 feet down and repeating this over and over so it looks like he or she is springing along.  Marley seems to do this when he is excited .  Even Llamas can do it, now wouldn’t that be a sight to see.    All my sheep have done it at one time or another.  I am glad to find out that this is a normal thing that sheep do and it has a name.

NEW ENGLAND WOOL FESTIVAL

Tomorrow Debbie and I are going to scope out the New England Wool Festival at the Big E.  We are thinking about applying for that show.  It will be a fun afternoon and I will share pictures with you.  It is the last wool show in New England and is getting bigger and bigger each year.

ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY

Hope you have a wonderful day and many thanks for reading my blog.

Carole

The Fiber Festival was great! I went today. Tons of stuff…but only two rug hookers. Your stuff would be a great addition to the show. Have fun there. Patti
ps love your big happy family!
