Yesterday I got the last 46 bales of hay from the fields that Joe tends to.  I love his hay he takes great  care in

making the hay and tending to the fields.   Ceacy and Lynn helped me with the use of their trucks and the

use of their strength.  It’s ready for David to bring it to the barn in the 4 wheeler.  I will still need more and will get it elsewhere.

I am in crisis mode with the egg situation.  My fridge is full of them and I hardly have room for anything else.

The hens have been laying so well.    SO now I need to get with the program and use them.  Today I made a double batch of old-fashioned baked  custard using 6 of them.

When I first got the hens I bought some egg cookbooks.  COuldn’t find the recipe in any of them.   THere were all sorts of fancy custards but I wanted to make the one  that my Mom used to make.  I finally found it in the Fanny Farmers Cookbook.  It is delicious.

I am planning to make a eggs for sale sign and put it in my front yard.  I hope it entice my neighbors to buy very local!

The basket from the garden is getting less filled as summer comes to a close.   I was able to pick enough for a nice salad and some tomatoes and basil for some gypsy soup which I am making.

This soup is wonderful , both spicy and hardy.  I load it up  with all

the veggies that I can find.  The recipe is from the MOOSEWOOD

COOKBOOK.  I am cooking it in the crock pot and plan to freeze

half of it .

Hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for taking the time to read my blog.
